Mooting gives aspiring lawyers an opportunity to develop skills that extend beyond the classroom. Preparing and presenting a case calls for careful legal research, structured reasoning and the ability to respond thoughtfully to questions from the bench.
Through its sponsorship of the inaugural Dean’s Shield, GJC Law supports opportunities for students to build these skills and engage with members of the legal profession.
The judges for the preliminary and semi-final stages included Mr Vinit Chhabra, Ms Grace Chacko, Mr Amrun Hisyam, Ms Ruth Yeo, Professor Ferlin Jayatissa and GJC Law’s Noelle Teoh.
As a semi-final judge, Noelle had the opportunity to observe students present their submissions and respond to questions, bringing a practitioner’s perspective to the assessment of their advocacy.
The preliminary and semi-final rounds set the stage for the forthcoming finals, where the remaining participants will compete for the inaugural Dean’s Shield.
GJC Law is pleased to contribute to an initiative that connects legal education with practical advocacy. Supporting student competitions forms part of the firm’s commitment to encouraging learning and professional development within Singapore’s legal community.
We congratulate all participants on their efforts and look forward to the finals of the inaugural SUSS Dean’s Shield.
